Tensioning Device

Thick spots or slubs are detected by tensioning device. Yarns break are also a cause of tensioning device. It’s a device mainly worked as a detector.
Function of tensioning device:
  1. In order to achieve a uniform package density the tensioning device maintain of proper tension in the yarn.
  2. For excessively weak spots in the yarn the tensioning device is a detector.
Effects of tension variation:
  1. The yarn will be damaged due to high tension.
  2. Unstable packages will be formed due to low tension which will not unwind cleanly.
  3. The molecular of man made fiber will be changed due to high tension and it affects the dye ability. That’s why its shows random variation of color shading.
  4. The thin place of the yarn will may break the staple yarns winding.
Requirements which influence the choice of tensioning device:
  1. The device must be reliable.
  2. It must be easily threaded.
  3. It must neither introduce nor magnify tension variations.
  4. It must not introduce difference in twist.
  5. It must not be affected by wear.
  6. It must be easily adjustable.
  7. It must not be affected by presence of oil or dirt.
  8. It must not encourage the collection of dirt and lint.
  9. It must be capable of easy cleaning.
  10. The operating surfaces must be smooth.
  11. It must be inexpensive.
Types of tensioning device: Tensioning device can be classified into two groups. These are:
  1. Depending on the type of the working member acting on the yarn.
  2. According to the working principle.
Depending on the type of the working member acting on the yarn: This also can be classified into,
  1. Ball type.
  2. Washer type.
  3. Disc type.
  4. Roller type.
  5. Comb type.
  6. Two zone type.
According to the working principle: This tensioning device also classified into these types,
  1. Capstan tensioner.
  2. Additive tensioner.  
  3. ombined tensioner.
  4. Automatic tensioner.
